High School Apprenticeship Program - Professional Learning Group (HSAP-PLG)

This is a place for teachers and administrators to gather news about youth apprenticeship in Manitoba. The HSAP-PLG is a group of teachers, guidance counselors, and school administrators who are interested in providing opportunities for students to explore and pursue professional training in the trades.

Our Purpose for Meeting:

  1. Create an HSAP Professional Network: members participate in networking with other HSAP-PLG members, Apprenticeship Manitoba, Manitoba Education and Training-Instructional Curriculum and Assessment B and guests.
  2. Stay Current: members gather the most recent information regarding HSAP through meetings, meeting notes and email notifications.
  3. Create HSAP awareness: members are expected to share information gathered at meetings with their home school divisions and school communities.
  4. Provide Professional Development: members will continue to learn and review the 55+ trades, learn from employers and partners.
  5. Mediate Connections: 1) connect Apprenticeship Manitoba (potential post-secondary option) and high school students (potential labour market); and 2) connect high schools and trade-based businesses. 

Composition:

1.   Members – anyone who attends from a school division.
2.   Partners – anyone from Apprenticeship Manitoba and Manitoba Education and Training.
3.   Regular Guests – special interest groups that promote education and industry who wish to be regular attenders.
4. Invited Guests – guests that appear infrequently and are asked to present information to the group.
