The manufacturing industry plays a vital role in both the Manitoba and Canadian economies.
Manufacturing employs 4.7 million Canadians directly and indirectly, and represents one of the largest employment sectors in southern Manitoba. Today’s manufacturers employ advanced technologies and process improvement techniques (eg. ‘Lean’ theory) to remain competitive in
the global economy. They are always on the lookout for young people who will help them achieve success in producing and exporting their products to markets around the world.
The Manufacturing Engineering Technology program is a twelve credit program where students will learn about manufacturing design (using CAD/CAM/CNC), equipment fundamentals, safety procedures, wood manufacturing, composite and metals technology, and Lean Theory. Students will work on a range of projects, developing them from the design phase through to the production phase. Students completing this program will possess the mindset and the skills necessary to take advantage of the extensive opportunities in industry.
Completion of this program will offer students the following opportunities:
